E342 Snapshot, Jenny Wolff

I really enjoyed keeping a tally on everything I've read over the past few days. I have never been asked to do this in any class before, and my results were very interesting. I actually found that I have no life besides facebook, reading about celebrities, and food. Pretty pathetic huh??

Everyday I try my best to hit the gym. I played soccer my whole life, and never really had to worry about working out on my own time because I would have practice everyday. Since being in college, that all has changed. I realized that I can't eat as much as I want and not gain a pound. That is not how it's supposed to work. Therefore, by attending the gym everyday, I can still eat all the ice cream I want! When at the gym, I always check to see what classes are at that time, and will have my ipod playing constantly. Also, I tend to bring magazines when on the stair stepper so I'm not staring at the amount of time I have left while I'm dying. Therefore, hitting the gym keeps my body in shape and myself updated on all my favorite celebrities. I think that is a pretty good combination.

I've also learned I am a pretty big procrastinator. For instance, right now I'm trying to read the articles online for this class, and yet I'm still on facebook. I definitely know I should cancel my account; however, I always tend to persuade myself out of it.

Furthermore, I am a huge health freak. I like to know what ingredients/nutritious value everything I eat has. Therefore, before I eat something, I tend to look at the facts on the back. However, most of the time, even though I know what I'm eating is bad, I'll still eat it. I think I just make myself feel better by knowing that I atleast attempted being healthy.

The past school week was considered "syllabus week", so I also had to read all of those for my classes. I have always been the type of student that puts school work ahead of everything else, so I tried to stay ontop of all my readings for my class, especially this class!

I tried my best to keep tally of everything I read over the weekend, but I'm sure I missed a few things. I never realized how difficult it could be when trying to keep track. I never pay attention to the things I read, I just read it because I have to. For instance, street signs. I would never really consider that "reading", yet if I didn't know how to read, I would never know what a stop sign is.

  1. It's not pathetic. Everyone likes different stuff. At least you work your fun readings into your workout. It's the best way to pass the time at the gym. When I use the bike at the gym I have to take a magazine or my favorite book, it helps to not think about the burning in my legs. I am afraid I would fall asleep if I brought our science homework to the gym.

  2. After reading your blog, I realized I forgot about so much stuff that I could have counted. I think this project was great to show us just how important it is to be literate. I can't even imagine what it would be like to be illiterate and not be able to read and write. Literacy is really everywhere.
